Our Island Home
King Island is a very special part of the world. It may be small, but it’s a land with a big reputation. Situated in the notorious Bass Strait between Tasmania and mainland Australia, King Island’s geography and terroir have made it truly unique and renowned for world-famous beef, dairy and the purest rainwater on earth. The perfect place for a remote island distillery.
Our range of ultra-premium products are brought to life to share the untold legends of the island through courage, endurance and endeavour. From the mythical Waterwitch responsible for countless shipwrecks to fearless smugglers in Martha, the maritime courage of island namesake, Governor Philip Gidley King to the absolute pinnacle that is Cape Wickham – King Island is a truly a place like nowhere else on earth.

Hand-crafted with care
At King Island Distillery Bass Strait, our production process is intentionally hands-on, small-scale, and deeply rooted in respect for our island environment. Every bottle we craft reflects not only purity of flavour, but a philosophy of responsibility and care. From milling our grain onsite for optimal freshness to relying exclusively on filtered King Island rainwater - from fermentation through to bottling - our approach is purposefully low-intervention and focused on quality at every step.
Sustainability is more than a consideration - it’s built into how we operate. All spent grain from our distilling process is gifted to the local community as feed for pigs and sheep, while our treated wastewater is returned to the land, used to irrigate surrounding paddocks for cattle grazing. Our hot water from the still is reused for brewing, minimising waste and conserving precious resources. With no automation on site, every stage of our process is carried out by hand - ensuring not only a truly craft spirit, but a production cycle that honours the land and community we call home.
