A Beautiful Collaboration:

King Island Distillery x Beautiful Isle Wines

Crafting Tasmania’s First Pinot Noir Gin

When two Tasmanian makers — one from the world of wine, one from the world of spirits — come together, something extraordinary happens. The launch of Gidley Pinot Noir Gin marks a new chapter for King Island Distillery Bass Strait Spirits: a collaboration that celebrates craftsmanship, place, and the beauty of shared creativity.

A Meeting of Makers

At King Island Distillery Bass Strait, our philosophy is simple: when great minds and great ingredients come together, exceptional things happen.

For this limited release, we partnered with Beautiful Isle Wines, a Tamar Valley winery known for its expressive, small-batch approach and deep respect for Tasmania’s natural landscape. Established in 2013, Beautiful Isle sources fruit from across the region and manages Marion’s Vineyard, one of the Tamar’s most iconic sites.

Once an apple orchard, Marion’s Vineyard inspired the Beautiful Isle name — a tribute to Tasmania’s pioneering wine heritage and the island’s breathtaking beauty. Their wines reflect a true sense of place: colourful, characterful, and alive with the region’s cool-climate energy.

From Vineyard to Still

For the Gidley Pinot Noir Gin, we worked closely with Beautiful Isle’s 2025 vintage Pinot Noir grapes — steeping them with our Gidley Dry Gin base to create a spirit that unites the disciplines of winemaking and distilling.

The result is a gin that captures both the vibrancy of Tasmanian Pinot Noir and the clarity of King Island craftsmanship.

From the first pour, the liquid glows a jewelled ruby hue, its aroma offering a gentle meeting of juniper and ripe red fruit. On the palate, the dance continues — raspberry, rosemary, blackcurrant, and pink peppercorn — balanced by the botanical depth of the original Gidley Dry recipe. It’s elegant, aromatic, and unmistakably Tasmanian.

A first for Beautiful Isle Wines

This marks Beautiful Isle’s first collaboration in the world of spirits — and a meaningful one at that. Together, we’ve created something that sits beautifully between both worlds: the softness and fruit character of wine meeting the structure and spice of gin.

The collaboration celebrates what Tasmania does best — premium, small-batch craftsmanship with a strong sense of place. It’s a testament to the island’s creative spirit and the quality of its makers.

A Shared Sense of Place

Though separated by sea, King Island and the Tamar Valley share a natural connection — both shaped by cool air, clean water, and respect for the elements. This release reflects that shared philosophy: purity, provenance, and patience.

Gidley Pinot Noir Gin isn’t just a new spirit. It’s a story of collaboration — of vineyard and distillery, land and ocean, makers and materials — all coming together to craft something truly Tasmanian.
